From a young age, I've always had a deep fascination with crystals and the metaphysical world. Their beauty and energy captivated me, and I found solace and inspiration in their presence. I have also always been intrigued with the art of jewelry making and reminisced on the summer days where I spent my time on nothing else but making friendship bracelets. It wasn't until my university days when my uncle, who I was staying with, showed me his jewelry and crystal supplies to make earrings during a study break. Little did I know that this simple activity would re-ignite a passion within me that would shape my future.
As I delved into the world of jewelry making, my interest grew exponentially. I spent hours watching tutorials on wire wrapping and experimenting with different techniques. Crystal rings were very popular at the time and I spent hours making them. It was like a whole new world had opened up before me, filled with endless possibilities to create beautiful pieces of healing jewelry.
Around the same time, I was facing some personal challenges with my mental health. I was struggling with severe depression and anxiety and in my quest for healing, I discovered reiki—a holistic practice that resonated deeply with me. I realized that it could be a powerful tool to complement the traditional methods of medicine and therapy I was already pursuing. Eager to learn more, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and enrolled in reiki courses. After much dedication and countless lessons, I achieved the second degree and earned the title of reiki practitioner.
After receiving my undergraduate degree in psychology and planning to take a gap year before medical school, I returned home. It was during this time that I decided to start Beyond The Above as a side hustle, with the intention of saving money for my med school tuition. However, life had other plans in store for me.
Unexpectedly, my scribing job fell through and I found little motivation in studying for the MCAT a second time, leaving me at a crossroads. It was a turning point that forced me to reevaluate my path and consider my true passions. The more I focused on my budding business, the more I realized that my heart yearned to nurture and grow Beyond The Above. The calling was too strong to ignore.
So, I made a pivotal decision—I changed my mind about medical school and chose to pursue my reiki-charged crystal jewelry business as a full-time career. It was a leap of faith, but one that felt undeniably right. With every piece I create, I infused it with intention, love, and healing energy, sharing the beauty of crystals and the power of reiki with the world.
Today, Beyond The Above is not just a business; it's a manifestation of my passion, my creativity, and my desire to make a positive impact on others. Through my crystal jewelry, I hope to inspire and uplift, offering a tangible reminder of the beauty and magic that exists within each and every one of us.
